Rainwater Tank Installation

Do I need council approval to install a rainwater tank?

We recommend before purchasing a rainwater tank that you check with your local council if there are any planning or building regulations, or local health requirements in your area.

Find your local council here: https://www.lga.sa.gov.au/sa-councils/councils-listing

What is the best location to install a rainwater tank?

The size and shape of the tank will be a factor. You should also consider the following:

  • Ensure the area has a level, compacted base
  • Locate as close to the downpipes as possible
  • Locate out of direct sunlight to lower the water temperature

View site preparation information here.

Do APR Tanks install?
No. We offer a delivery and site-fit out service only. Providing site conditions are safe, our driver will assist with the tank positioning, drill outlets and fit a valve / tap. If your rainwater tank is being plumbed into a house for internal water supply, e.g. toilets or laundry, it must be installed by a licensed plumber.
